Today we went for a little ride (50 km) and went down to the south-west point Pointe de St-Mathieu where there is the ruins of a monastery and a modern lighthouse.
It was a beautiful clear day so we could see the offshore islands, Crozen and Pointe du Raz. After enjoying the contrast of old and new at the Pointe we headed north along the coast. Lots of campervans pulled out to look at the coast (I think they are actually camping at these pullouts). Not many people on the beach as it was quite cool with the wind.
We ate a picnic lunch overlooking the beach in le Conquet and then headed north along the coast past Plage des Blanc Sablons. We tried to follow the coast for awhile further but roads kept turning to sand and we decided to head for home. Doug took us via the highest point in Iroise. A nice lookout but not a very hard climb.
Tail wind out, tail wind home.
